Bamidbar: 3: 40
Hashem said to Moses, "Count every firstborn male of the children of Israel from one month of age and up, and take a census of their names.

The animals of the Levites did not redeem the firstborn of the pure animals belonging to and Israelite, but only those which a merge first from the wombs of their donkeys. And one sheep of a Levite could exempt many of those first to emerge from a donkey, which belong to Israel. You can know that this is so, for, see now, Scripture counted those non-Levites in excess of the Levites among people, but it did not count those in excess among the animals.

Bamidbar: 3: 46
And as for those redeemed of the firstborn, the two hundred and seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Israel who are in excess over the Levites,

And the firstborn who need to be redeemed among them. These are the two hundred seventy-three who are the excess among them, over and above the Levites, from them you shall take "five shekalim per head." Such was the price for the sale of Joseph, twenty pieces of silver, and he was the firstborn of Rachel.

Bamidbar: 3: 50
from the firstborn of the children of Israel he took the money, one thousand, three hundred and sixty-five in the sacred shekels.
Rashi on 3: 50 One thousand, three hundred and sixty-five:

This is the total calculation of "five shekalim per head," for two hundred firstborn, a one thousand shekalim, for seventy firstborn, three hundred fifty shekalim, for three firstborn, fifty shekalim.

Moses said, "What should I do? A firstborn to whom I will say, 'Give five shekalim,' will say to me, 'I am among those redeemed by the Levites, so I do not have to give you five shekalim.' "What did Moses do? He brought twenty-two thousand tickets, and wrote upon them, " Levite," and he brought another two hundred seventy-three tickets, and wrote on them, "five shekalim." He mixed them up, and put them in a box. He said to the firstborn, " Come and draw your tickets according to the lottery."

And one who is more than the age of fifty, his strength diminishes from then on.

And the fire that had descended from the Heavens would crouch beneath the cloth like a lion, at the time of the journeys, and it would not burn the cloth, because they would turn a large copper pot over it.

Bamidbar: 4: 14
they shall place upon it all the utensils with which they minister upon it, the fire-pans, the forks, the shovels, and the basins, all the utensils of the Altar, and spread over it a covering of tachash-hide, and set its staves.

For he is appointed over them, to carry them, the oil of illumination, and the incense, and the anointment oil, and the continual meal-offering. It is put as a duty upon him, to issue orders, and to rouse those over whom he is appointed to carry out their tasks, and to offer at the time of their encampment.

Rashi on 4: 16 The charge of the entire Tabernacle:

And in addition, he was appointed over that which was to be carried by the sons of Kohath, to give orders to each man regarding his work, and regarding that which he had to carry.
